DDS serves an average of 140 children each year. In the state of Pennsylvania any child that exhibits a 25% delay in development is entitled to Free Early Intervention Services. Early Intervention is critical for a child’s development. The earlier a child is diagnosed and served, the greater the chances are for a child to be successful in achieving important developmental milestones. Many of the children served by DDS have multiple challenges to overcome. Through training and education, DDS empowers children to achieve a higher level of independence.

DDS-Summer Stars Day Camp:
The purpose of the camp is to help children of all abilities explore new talents while developing social and recreational skills in a fun non-threatening environment. Our Vision is for each child to gain a better appreciation of self and to experience greater personal independence.

A Camp Coordinator and a Camp Aide will oversee the day camp program. A Nurse will be available to assist as needed. DDS will use a “buddy” system in which children are partner with a high school student or adult volunteer to provide assistance during camp activities.

Planned activities are designed to develop communication skills and team building techniques. There will also be opportunities for children to explore individual goals and talents.

There are three camps to chose from:
