Accessicle Communities

Accessible Communities Today ACT, Accessible Communities Today, has a mission to advance the rights of persons with disabilities by the elimination of physical, educational and emotional barriers. A.C.T. achieves its mission by building and maintaining relationships with agencies, disability groups and governmental authorities.  While A.C.T. provides some direct services, its main purpose is to link persons with other beneficial services, including social services, nonprofit groups and governmental agencies.

MONTHLY MEETINGS: A.C.T. -Lebanon holds regular monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month (except for holidays) at 1:30 p.m. Meetings are held at the DDS- Alley Learning Center. All meeting are open to the public.

Meetings frequently include a guest speaker. Topics address the rights of persons with disabilities and provides information on local available services.

MEDICAL EQUIPMENT EXCHANGE: A.C.T.
accepts donations of durable used medical equipment, and unused medical supplies, for the purpose of maintaining a “medical equipment bank” for person’s to gain access to equipment that they need.  Once a year, usually in the spring, A.C.T. holds an exchange that is open to the public. People come to the exchange to claim items that they need—there is no cost for persons to attend or claim the items. Individuals who claim items, may not resell the items for personal gain.  DDS does not resell or profit financially from donations to the medical equipment exchange.

Person’s may donate or claim items throughout the calendar year by calling DDS at 273-3493.
