Engaging the human spirit through collaborative art.
Our Vision:
We believe that each person is an artist, limited only by the boundries of his/her imagination.
Our Mission:
To help individuals of all abilities achieve new heights through art & the creative process.
Our Leader:
Vickie Kracke has dedicated countless hours of research into developing a program like Brave Art Studio. As a parent of a child with special needs, she believes strongly in the transforming power of art. “Art,” she says, “is the great equalizer.”
Who We Are:
Developmental & Disability Services (DDS) of Lebanon Valley partnered with the Lebanon Valley Council on the Arts to develop a program that would celebrate and recognize the artistic abilities of persons with developmental delays and disabilities. From this partnership grew the Brave Art Studio. Presently, Brave Art is administered by a group of dedicated artists, community volunteers and professionals. The group meets weekly on Thursday nights from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the DDS-Alley Learning Center.
What We’re About:
Brave Art is about enjoying the process of creating art together while diminishing the differences between persons with disabilities and abilities.
The studio is a place where artists with all abilities create together.
Art work is then displayed and offered for sale to the general public. 50% of the sales is returned to the Brave Art program for the purchase of supplies and materials. 25% of the sale is returned to the artist who created the original work and 25% is the standard consignment fee.
